Newcomb's Wildflower GuideOslund's book is not as complete in its coverage of the diversity of species of plants in the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada and is not as systematically organized as Newcomb's Wildflower Guide, but it presents gorgeous photographs of the most common species and is a joy to use.

I've been very pleased with this book. I purchased one for each of my vehicles. I have an older edition that I got from a friend that I keep in my house and was very happy with it as well. This is an excellent resource, very well done.

This book is, hands down, the best plant book there is for my part the country. I absolutely love and depend on it, and have given it many times as a gift. It is unfortunate that is has an incredibly stupid name, but .... we live with it. We are very grateful to the Oslands for tremendous efforts obviously put into researching and preparing this book. We have used the previous edition for years, it is very much depended on in our outings.

Fabulous photos and descriptions. I also love the layout of this book compared to other field guides. It's organized by when and where the flowers bloom rather than just color.

Photos don't appear to be as clear as in the previous edition--otherwise, a very useful guide.

One of the best wild flower books ever. I received the original version of this as a gift years ago.

My 2 year old daughter passed away a couple of weeks ago unexpectedly in her sleep. It has been the most awful time in my life. One of the things that held me together during the services was remembering how much she hated to see me cry & the way that she would always try to cheer me up. This book is beautiful but the first time I read it, I will admit, it was gut-wrenching. I have never cried so hard since the moment that my life turned upside. As difficult as it was, it was healing for me and exceptionally beautiful. The artwork is exquisite and I feel as if my daughter is speaking to me. Yes, it is written from a child's perspective but with beautiful wording. Now, I don't want this book to leave my side because it is the only thing that I have found that makes me feel that my daughter is speaking to me. There are many books out there that help us to survive from another parent's perspective but the beauty of this book is that it comes from the innocence of a child who isn't aware of what they are "missing" here on earth. Even though it is hard, most of my grief comes from the things that I will be missing but I truly believe that she isn't sad and is looking forward to playing until she sees me again.

We lost our Grandchild in Birth a few years ago, and almost lost our daughter due to an unforseen complication in the delivery process. After the funeral of our Grandchild, this book was given to our Daughter by the Doctor's Office. It had been left there by another Mother and Father, who had experienced a similar loss, as they wanted to share the comfort which this book can bring, in a time of tradegy.Likewise, we too wanted to return the good deed, and purchased a copy for our Church and our Misister. This book is a source of comfort, when words are the only thing, other than prayer, which can help. We found the book an excellent source to show younger children also, and it helps to explain where their sister or brother, may be, and where they can see them again. It is an excellent book, and we are grateful for its existence.

I gave this book to my daughter after she suffered the stillbirth of a beautiful and perfect daughter, Amanda Grace, due to a cord accident. It is the story of a baby being carried up to heaven by an angel. After she is there, the baby tells her mother how wonderful heaven is and how happy she is, and all the wonderful things that she does in heaven. She says to her sad mommy, "please don't cry." At the end of the book, the baby tells her mother that they will be together again and that their hearts will "again beat as one." The accompanying pictures are sweet and happy. After the story there are a few lined pages for writing one's own thoughts. My grieving nine-year-old granddaughter, who had been so looking forward to her new baby sister, wrote about the baby and about her being in heaven. The lovely, hopeful story was a blessing to the whole family. (If you are not a Christian, this is not the book for you, as it presents a very Christian religious viewpoint.)

Though this is fictional and not necessrily scripturally sound, it is a very sweet story and speaks of a child happy in Heaven, enjoying the beauty and being loved by Jesus. There is a section to record the baby's name and "would have beens". I have given this to everyone I know who has lost a baby and they have all been so appreciative.

Perfect book for the loss of a child. I had one already and my friend lost her baby so I bought her one. She really liked it!

This is a wonderful book that reminds us all that Heaven is an amazing place filled with love, laughter, and dancing. This book was given to me after my daughter, Madeline Renae, was born still at 37 weeks on May 31, 2006. The illustrations are so beautiful and it brings comfort and joy to my heart when I read the book and think of my daughter in Heaven dancing, playing, sitting in Jesus' lap, and reminding me how wonderful it is there. I recommend this book to anyone who knows someone who has lost a child as a way to reach out. I am purchasing additional copies to give away to others who have experienced loss.

This is a beautiful book. The illustrations are works of art and the narrative is touching. I keep a couple of copies in my closet and give one to a friend who has a miscarriage. Everyone's reaction is the same.

I got this for a friend after recalling the title was extremely helpful to another friend of mine who went through a miscarriage. It was well-received and my friend was grateful for the acknowledgement of her loss (all too often, we don't know what to do or say after a miscarriage, our awkward silence that results can make those suffering feel so alone.

Sometimes accessibility is an issue. Not for this book. The pages are crisp and clean and very easy for kids and ADULTS to follow. My favorite part so far about this book is how easy it is to understand. My kids and I can learn this together. A cool feature in this book is you also get instructional videos. The videos take the lessons off the page and make them interactive to keep your kids' attention and bring music to life for them. I'm attaching some pages of the sample just to show you easy it is.

This is a great book for learning the guitar. The pictures were big and bright, easy for a kid to follow along. I also enjoyed the interactive videos, as well as the starter songs. There's even a section where you can write your own song, which is a thoughtful thing to include to encourage a child's creativity. It teaches you string by string, and then moves you up to basic chords. A good beginning place for starting out with your kids.

I bought this one and several other for my kids to learn how to play the guitar. They are getting decent fast.

I’m enjoying using this method for young kids. I have two using it, and they both really like it and are responding well to it. Better than I thought and I’ve tried a few other methods. I wish I’d found it sooner.

Nice. Really nice. As you open the pages, you'll see full traditional watercolor paintings of the castle, the backgrounds, and everything. The first part are character designs and sketches, then more to the finer ones, then movie stills. The latter part includes some digital enhancements on the movie. Plus of course, the movie script. This artbook is really a good find, I tell you. Although I must say, Spirited Away's Artbook is much better; but this is still as good as it can get. Of course, it's Studio Ghibli! :)

Not bad, the text part is interesting but if you buy this kind of books for the concept art and visual development of the movie, don't buy it, this one has very little production design visuals and most of the pictures are just stills from the movie.

I loved this book. The prints were gorgeous and the concept art was great. However, the one I got there was no glue binding on the spine and it was absolutely ruined. I ordered a replacement and I Got another one with no glue on the binding! I WANT this book but I really wish Amazon would simply open the book's cover and check it before sending it off to me.

I adore Howl's Moving Castle, it holds the top animated film spot for me (so perhaps I have some bias?) It was wonderful seeing all of the storyboards and stories behind the planning and execution that brought the original novel to a new movie format. Gorgeously illustrated throughout, with the full movie script at the end. Highly recommend for fans of Hayao Miyazaki or any Studio Ghibli film collector!

I first watched Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle a few years back and really enjoyed it. Over the years I have periodically watched it again and each time I see it my appreciation for movie's storytelling power and visual beauty grows stronger.This is a fun, beautiful film that takes place in a wonderous alternate universe that's Japanese anime meets steampunk Austro-Hungarian fairytale.The Art of Howl's Moving Castle is a book compilation of various drawings made by the animation team from concept sketches to final cells. All of the drawings are stunning to look at, but what may be of more interest to the movie's aficionados are the corresponding commentary about the moviemaking process by team members such as art director Yoji Takeshige, background artist Kazuo Oga, and so on.The bulk of the book also functions as a basic storyboard, but the last third or so is the actual final screenplay.Studio Ghibli Library has published quite a few companion books to their movies, but The Art of Howl's Moving Castle remains one of the strongest in the set due to the aforementioned commentary.Definitely a worthwhile book for any artist, animator or Miyazaki fan.

If you've purchased any of the other Studio Ghibli Library titles you know what to expect from this title, The Art of Howl's Moving Castle. The book is in Japanese, but it doesn't matter much as only the first 5 pages are in Japanese and the rest of the book is just pictures. It's over 400 pages and nothing but layout designs (as the title suggests) from all the Miyazaki films. Gorgeous.

The book looks awesome. The artwork is spectacular (its Ghibli so of course it is) and the information in the book was interesting, it was cool to see the process they went through to make the movie. Only problem I have is a tear on the front inside cover of the book? (Not sure if that’s the right description so I’m including a photo. That’s the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5). Overall I would highly recommend this book :)

This was a must have book for me since Howl’s Moving Castle is my favorite. Yes, there are tons on movie stills, but I still love it. The 4 stars is for the manufacturer’s choice of poor book spine design. Have no idea why they went the route of not gluing the spine to the harcover. So I now feel like i have to be super careful with it. Still keeping it, but a forewarning...they’re all like that before you return one and re-order another.
