Hi Rick,I've done the first induction five times now, and the second induction three times. Each time I enter the trance state definitely seems MUCH DEEPER, as promised. I will start working with the third induction tomorrow.I've had a lot of trouble sleeping over the past few years, mostly due to work related stress. I travel A LOT for work and things ALWAYS go wrong on the projects I'm given. I really want to do something different, and I sincerely believe that the first induction has been helpful in calming me down and helping me sleep at night. I don't do the induction in my bed, I use a chair as you recommend in the book...but even doing it in the afternoon after work seems to help me sleep later at night. I can't wait to start the 'installation' phase.I also want to comment on all of the 1 star Amazon reviews, specifically those that deal with the audio being unavailable. I always read those first to see if the low rating is legitimate or opinionated. I've found at least 3 different ways to receive the inductions (and you even emailed the links to me yourself!), and it is VERY clear in the text that we customers can contact you for assistance. To be honest, I've never written to an author before, but I love that I can! Even more-so that you ENCOURAGE it!I'm editing out some of my previous comments regarding the one-star reviews, because maybe there was a problem at one time and it was solved before I bought the book. I DO feel that the recordings are extremely helpful, and I don't think I would have made as much progress if I had recorded the inductions myself.I had trouble using the Kindle for the MP3's (which we covered in a previous email and you recommended 'syncing' with a computer), but it still took me no longer than 15 minutes to find a streaming version and get started with the first induction. I did not have difficulty reading the book on the Kindle. I have also downloaded the files to play on my laptop. Maybe it was a legitimate problem in the past and I could be totally wrong about the one star reviewers' experiences, but I had NO trouble getting access to the scripts.I was also surprised that I received a personal email response within 12 hours, considering that you are about 7 hours ahead of me (I'm in Kansas, USA, Central Time Zone). I know a couple of the emails were 'form' emails, but I also know that you genuinely had to sit down and type some things directly to me as well. I thank you for not being unreachable.Your material easily deserves five stars, and your exemplary customer service is off the charts! Thank you so much, and I really appreciate both the book and the excellent customer service! Using the first induction to help me relax and sleep is worth the price of the book alone, in my opinion.Based on my experience so far, I'm really thinking of taking a certification myself, it would be nice to change careers and do something to help people, instead of working with industrial equipment and feeling beat-up all the time. Before I happened across this book, I hadn't really given much thought to self-hypnosis, believing myself to be a well-adjusted adult who wasn't in need of such things. But from the first page, I was intrigued and just had to find out more. The clear explanations and instructions given make it quite a page turner, for a non-fiction book, and I was amazed at the range of situations that the 'System' could be used for.The ease with which the scripts can be obtained, from the author's website directly on to a phone, tablet or PC, make it easy to get started at each stage. I also like the format of the book, with the practical know-how coming first and the more detailed history and explanations of hypnosis and its uses coming later on.The book is very well-written without any of those jarring typos and grammar glitches that so spoil the reading experience of any book and is one that I will be dipping in and out of for some time to come.Well done Rick!

So how does it work? The answer to that question is why you are going to buy this book.Rick Smith, an expert in the field of hypnotism guides the reader step by step through a series of deep relaxation techniques until the 'trance' state of total relaxation of mind and body is reached. The exercises themselves are therapeutic and each time you repeat them, the deeper the resulting trance will be. So, in the first half of the book, the author teaches you how to achieve the trance state and in the second half of the book, he teaches you how to use the trance state to achieve your goals.The secret of the technique is in the human voice but, and it is an important but, the voice you are going to listen to is one that you must trust. So. included in the book are links to mp3 sound tracks covering different parts of the technique. You may either use these or make your own recording of the scripts which Mr. Smith also provides. It really is up to you which method you prefer. However, do not assume that if the voice you listen to is your own it will make things easier; there is a possibility that contrary to popular opinion, you might not like the sound of your own voice. In which case Mr. Smith's dulcet tones may be the answer.This is a brilliant book, clearly and concisely explained and eminently readable. If you really want to try self hypnosis and don't know anything about it, then you can do no better than to invest in your copy. It well teach you properly and serve you well.

I like this book because i was able to go into hypnosis immediately without any resistance at all. Time and time again i gotten the same results of going into a trans state. A really great book to us and i have found that Ricks voice is EXTREMELY effektive. What I have found most effective and important is that if one stretches all the muscles in the body by tensing up it makes it very easy to become relaxed and slip into hypnosis without any trouble at all. Thank You Rick! A Great Self Hypnos book!

Another specialty niche for me. Rick Smith has written one of the best in this genre. I am currently using his method and having success. This is NOT one of those "turn yourself into a robot-zombie and rule the world" junkers. It is a realistic, simply written book about how to put yourself into a hypnotic trance and work for self improvement or relaxation. Of the last 12 books I've ordered, this is clearly the best.

I needed to return my borrowed amazon prime book so I could get another one! I saw this. Trick! Only 8 pages with miss spelled words, pages that don't follow each other. Plus, it didn't work. The instructions were not for my old kindle. I went to Google for free!

Since I can no longer find a list of lending library books using a selection criteria on my PC I thought an "up to date" guide would help. Wrong. p.s. I did find a way to search that seems to be working. Using a PC, add a filter for "unlimited" even if you don't subscribe. If you find anything worth reading, use your Kindle device to search for that book by title and you can borrow from there.

Lending library is very difficult to find. There is no list that I could find. You just look up books individually and see if it's listed.

The step-by-step directions are no longer appropriate for locating and using the "lending library". Amazon references this as a benefit to their prime membership, and then makes it extremely difficult to utilize. I !ike my prime membership, but I want honest information about the benefits!

This book was a waste of time and $. It said absolutely nothing that is not said on the Prime lending site.

I thought as an Prime member I could access this for free but that is not the case. Don't bother with this. It is just a few pages long and you could google for the same information instead.

Not worth paying for. I was under the misconception that this item was free. Only 4 or 5 paragraphs long.

Did not get a good sense of how to use lending library. Cannot really recommend this book to anyone of my friends.

I had great hopes for Notes to a Software Team Leader, but unfortunately ended up being disappointed by this book and the advise it gives. Sure, it has useful tips, but then there are things (e.g. commitment language) that I just don't agree with. Also, the book is thinner than you think as the second half is actually filled with articles or blog posts. So, there wasn't a lot of meat in the book, unfortunately.The book is split into two parts: The book and the articles or blog posts. Half of the book is the actual book (only about 100 pages) and the other half is articles or blog posts collected by the author. The articles cover a very wide range of topics. Part #1 of the book consists of 4 sections: 1) Elastic Leadership, 2) The Survival Phase, 3) The Learning Phase, and 4) The Self-Organizing Phase.The Elastic Leadership section sets the tone and structure of the book by stating that leadership is situational and that it depends on the state of the team. The experience of the author is that teams go through 3 different phases, unsurprisingly: 1) Survival, 2) Learning, 3) Self-organizing, each having a section with one or more chapters related to the leaders role when the team is in that phase. The survival phase is when there is panic and no time to learn. The learning phase is when the team gradually learns to solve their own problems and the self-organizing phase is where the team is able to solve problems without your help. The author state that maybe 5% of the teams are in the self-organizing phase and the majority in the survival.He then goes on to explain the kind of leadership style you ought to use for each of these phases. For the survival phase the main leadership style is command control, for learning phase it is more a coaching style, and for self-organizing more a facilitation style (not black/white). Each chapter explains a couple of techniques and ideas for teams in that phase. Though, the majority of the book (almost 40%) focuses on the learning phase.Roy has some great ideas and some good stories to share, yet I was uncomfortable with some of his advise and the tone of the book. I've experienced a lot of teams, but the 3 phases do not really match my experience. Neither does the style link well to the describes phases. If you have a team in survival then there might not be time for learning, but if you can get them goal and purpose then I don't believe you must survive by applying command control management. But I was most uncomfortable with the commitment language. Adding precision in language when there is often no precision in the task doesn't feel right to me. And most organizations don't need more focus on commitments, but more focus on delivery. Anyways.All in all, the book is not bad, yet I wouldn't recommend it. It is small and doesn't contain a huge amount of new information. I'd probably do 3 stars for the book itself, but will reduce a start because of the random collection of articles towards the end of the book. 2 stars.

This is a pretty good book for first time software leaders to get an introduction to everything they will need to learn from a mentor. The book alone will give you the ideas and concepts with a few sort of real world examples. What you will need to make the experience complete is a mentor to help you understand the nuance that a book just cannot give. The contributions at the end of the book are really valuable and I like how they tie to the overall themes presented in the book. Overall a good read that makes you think what you can do better.

I consider Notes to a Software Team Leader a great introduction into (team) leadership literature. It helps you identify which mode your team is in (most likely the detrimental survival mode, which appears 'normal', because it's so common) and gives practical advice on how to level up your team to the next mode. Once the team is stable, more in depth books, recommended in NTASTL, are helpful for further improvement and to understand the theory behind NTASTL.

Definitely recommend this book. Great set of real world examples, that I could totally relate to. At the end, the author has invited other writers who are experts on this topic - great idea coz that adds so much diversity to the book. Definitely a must read for a budding team lead but also any lead!

Interesting read with some good real world experience. Having read a number of blogs from Roy's website it was good to get some in-depth insight into some real work leadership issues.I would recommend this book to any developer who has been pushed into a leadership no matter what the size of the team.

I have sculpted for the past 15 or twenty years and bought this book specifically for the page that dealt with plaster piece molds. Unfortunately, piece mold making is a lost art and few books even attempt to describe them, never mind explain how to make them. I'm still not sure how to tackle piece molds of fully articulated figures, but relatively solid pieces, like the portrait head illustrated in the book, would be reasonable to attempt.After receiving the book from Amazon, I was pleasantly surprised by the thoroughness of the book on a host of topics. Trust me, for anyone who is starting out, you can save yourself years of trial and error by referring to this book. In the chapter titled "modeling the figure" Langland explains the importance of building up slowly in "strings" that follow the forms of the muscles and stresses the importance of creating a solid pelvis, rib cage and head making sure that they align properly with the spine. I found myself nodding in agreement at countless points reading the book. It is remarkable how many processes and artistic concerns he manages to thoughtfully and clearly address throughout the book. As an example, Langland describes three methods to mark locations where holes will be drilled through a base to facilitate mounting a bronze sculpture. Now, this sounds like a very straightforward thing to do, but in practice it is a little tricky. Typically, underneath a bronze sculpture, a foundry will drill and tap two or more holes that can receive screws that pass through counter-bored holes in a stone or wood base. How would you locate hole centers in a blank base so that they will match the existing hole pattern in a bronze sculpture?

I have been sculpting only a short time. This book has become a great resource for me to consider having some of my work bronzed. I had no clue as to where to call or what to ask. After finishing this book I was very comfortable calling a local foundry and getting quotes via the formula the author suggested.He also shows how you could, (if you had time and resources), make your own bronze casting at home. Either way the steps are useful for when you are prepping your piece for the foundry. Also included is a nice full-color section on patina's for bronze and the effect each chemical has on the metal.A refreshing component to this book is the authors use of wit and light-hearted look at this art form. It makes the reading very enjoyable and easy.If your an artist that wants to take your work to the next level then I highly recommend this book!

What I like about this book is that Langland is not a dictator in his instruction. He usually offers multiple ways to do a task, and has listed other books for additional ideas. He encourages artists to come up with their own solutions if his options don't exactly fit the bill. The only drawback to the book, is he does not show how to model a head, face, figure, in any kind of detail. For that, you need to look elsewhere. If you want to cast in bronze, or some other plastic material, then I recommend this book.

When I first read the original Sandman, Preludes and Nocturnes, a few months back, I really liked where it was going. I did read that Gaiman thought the story didn't take off, and that the first volume was awkward, but I didn't believe that the series could get significantly better than it already was.After reading the Doll's House, I know now that I was wrong.The Doll's House is weird in all the right ways. Gaiman strings together interesting characters doing bizarre, awesome things in the fallout from the Morpheus's captivity. The main story is great, and the two short story interludes are even better.To get an idea of how good the Doll's House is, you need read no farther than....the summary of the previous volume. Yes, where most books provide the basic plot points of the story (when they provide them at all), Gaiman takes the time to make his previously-on piece to develop characters (Morpheus's brother Destiny, the narrator), set up a recurring joke, and explore themes of the novel. And somewhere in the Sunless lands, Stanley Kubrick nods in approval.Buy Preludes and Nocturnes, read it, and then buy this. You won't regret it.

This was my bedside book for months, but I didn't open it until a few days ago for whatever reason. I really enjoyed it, and the story was more cohesive than the first volume, with the same tangential "mini-stories" that I enjoyed from the first.When dealing with something like dreams.. well, there's a lot you can do with it. A lot of places you can go. Gaiman is essentially only limited to his imagination, and it is clear enough now that he is in no short supply of that. I especially enjoyed the issue about the "deathless man". It reminded me of old fairy tales, similar to those that can be found in something like Howard Pyle's, Twilight Land. And as much as I enjoyed that issue, I was equally disturbed by the "cereal convention". Very disturbed, in fact. As much as these books are Fantasy, they contain horror elements as well; something I was fond of in the Dark Tower.Overall, I really liked it. I am curious to see if the plot line in this volume will affect the story moving forward, or if each will be relatively self contained. Only one way to find out!

First up, all of the 10 volumes of The Sandman novels deserve 5 stars. They are a phenomenal acheivement in not only graphic novels but in storytelling itself. The story is complex and cerebral and the characters so well developed that Sandman is one of my favorite stories period. The novels are intensely violent and often disturbing but everything that happens serves a purpose, and nothing happens by chance or just for the sake of things happening. Something that happens in one volume may become vitally important 3 or 4 volumes later. By the end of the 10th volume everything has come full circle with an appropriate and satisfying end.With regards to Volume 2, it is one of my personal favorites. The storyline concerns Morpheus discovering that while he was imprisoned a few of his creations - dream and nightmares - have escaped to the human plane. He must embark on a quest to retrieve them. At the same time a young woman, Rose Walker, threatens to unknowingly destroy the dream realm and Morpheus must make a decision with regards to her life in order to keep his kingdom intact.As far as the volume's content on the Kindle Fire - I was hesitant to abandon the volumes in print worried that the Kindle Fire might provide a more difficult viewing experience. That hasn't turned out the be the case. The novel is easy to read, you can scan in to specific boxes, and the colors are vibrant.

I love this book, especially a certain detour it takes in the middle of the story arc. Five stars for content.But the formatting for kindle is awful. At least using the kindle for ipad app as of December 2016. I read it on portrait mode, and most pages are ok, but there are some two page spreads that would require a microscope to read. Rotate to landscape: it gets smaller! Double click to zoom panel: most of the time it doesn't work, and when it works you get the panels in some weird order. Pinch to zoom: disabled!Here's a tip: if you want a better experience, get the comixology app. You can buy the book on amazon and read it in comixology, you just have to login to the comixology app using your amazon account. If you already have a comixology account, you can merge it with your amazon account. In the comixology app you can use landscape mode for two page spreads, and pinch to zoom works as expected.
