As an elementary school teacher, I am always looking for interesting books for my students. With more students gaining access to tablets, digital books have come into vogue.Dinosaurs: 101 is an introduction to a chapter book format. Each chapter is designated to describing a specific dinosaur. The information is easy to understand while still presenting some challenging words that can encourage the child to expand their vocabulary. There are 16 chapters, which means 16 dinosaurs, which is pretty good. For the paperback version, you may be paying about a dollar per dinosaur. The Kindle version was only 99 cents at the time of this posting, so that's not bad.The pictures are helpful in allowing the young reader visualize what is being described by the words. Most of them are computer generated models, some with a natural environment depicted, others against the flat white page.If possible, I would also encourage you to try to find a physical copy of the book. For children, the digital format is not a big deal, but as an adult, you can see that pages are ordered and arranged in a way that is intended for traditional print.Overall, I think the book is satisfactory. I got cool pictures of what I wanted to see with some useful factoids about what I was looking at. I got this book for free, so I definitely got what I paid for. I ordered this book for my 7 year old son whom is infatuated with science, animals, and learning. He loved it!!I love that this book has a table of contents that you can click on the chapter you want to go to. Most ebooks you have to scroll through the pages to get to what chapter you want. There are 16 chapters in this book.Every body loves the mystery of Dinosaurs and it was awesome to learn a little bit more about them. This book tells you facts about Dinosaurs then goes in to the specific kind of dinosaurs and facts that are known the surround the different kinds. This book features the worlds top 16 dinosaurs and everything you need to know about them. Some of the facts are how they got their names, How big they were, and what they liked to eat.This book is longer that i expected it to be. I also expected it to be cheesy and have facts that are well known. This book really surprised me on the information that it had in it. Even at 30 years old I learned stuff about Dinosaurs that i did not know. The pictures in this book are outstanding. They are paintings or computer generated pictures of dinosaurs. they are crisp and clear and almost look real.This book is amazing and i defiantly recommend her other books as well. Check out other 101 Fun Fact books by Janet EvansThe numbering on these facts are not in 1-101 like some of her other books. Some of the numbering is in order than it goes to just 1's then goes back to in order.I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for an honest review. This book loaded quickly and easily. I had a number of different age groups look at the book and give me their feedback. It is written for an older audience but the younger children enjoyed the pictures. The illustrations are artist renditions of the dinosaurs as they would have looked while they roamed the earth. It is very well done and the facts are concise and to the point. The author talks about what the dinosaurs ate. Who they might have eaten and who might eat them in return. Comparisons were given about what other dinosaurs they may have looked like. I like that the author listed where the fossils had been found because it gives you an idea of where they lived while they were alive. The author also lists the period in which they lived. (Jurassic, Cretaceous, etc.) This is a good little resource for some quick facts on a number dinosaurs that roamed the earth. I liked the fact that the author gave the range that the dinosaurs were found in when it covered a large area. An example is the Tyrannosaurus Rex was found in Asia as well as North America. I think that sometimes we get the idea that dinosaurs stayed in one place and this books help children understand that many of the hunters roamed in large areas. The water dinosaurs were more localized and that different dinosaurs lived in different places at different times. Overall a great little book.

This is a very good book. I would recommend this for anyone, regardless of age, since everyone seems to have a fascination with dinosaurs. As an adult I still have a fascination of dinosaurs and I know my kids have one as well. Dinosaurs have forever intrigued the youngest of the young and the oldest of the old. As a father my sons were always interested in dinosaurs and my mother could say the same thing about me. They could not get enough information about dinosaurs whether it is through books, museums, or even TV shows or movies. This book is full of correct facts and is chalk full of dinosaur facts. The pictures are realistic and interesting. When the reader taps the picture it will enlarge (kindle version only). Unfortunately there is a lot of space on most pages for more pictures. All children love to look at pictures as they are drawn into the picture through the written text. So I am a little disappointed that there are not more pictures. This is an excellent research book for students in grades 2-5. I have been using this book in my classroom and my kids are absolutely fascinated by it. Every day they ask for me to read them more facts. Thank you for helping to make learning more fun.I received this book at a discount for my open, honest, and unbiased review.

This book was a great tool in my Global Health class. There's lots of tables and charts included, which not only break up the text nicely but provide a lot of useful information. The opening vignettes are really good as well, and help set the tone for the chapter. My favorite part about this textbook was the "Main Messages" section at the end of the chapters. The summary it provided was great and it proved to be a helpful study tool.The Pros:-easy to read-very informative-excellent, up-to-date statistics-summary section at the end of each chapterThe Cons:-the online resource wasn't available when I took the class. I used the previous edition's online quizzes to study, but it certainly would have been ideal if the current online resource was available.

Actually I have just started reading but I want to know why I can't read this book on my Kindle or the Cloud reader. My only option is my phone. If I had known of the restriction I would not have purchased the book. Or am I just missing something?

I bought this book for my global health class. I think I got a good deal on it compared to the book store. My only complaint is this book is very fragile. So when purchasing this book be very careful with it. The pages tear very easily.

well, it was a requirement for the class. Shipped fast and in good shape. The book is fair as far as textbooks go, it wasn't horribly slow paced or overdone with technical jargon, so that was a major plus.

For some 30 years, Bull, described by Adriane Ruggerio in the International Dictionary of Modern Dance as "a dancer and stager of improvisational movement pieces," was part of the modern dance scene that thrived in the lofts and galleries of lower Manhattan. Trained as a jazz pianist, Bull explored the use of improvisation in dance and in his works made the creative process more transparent, allowing both the dancers and the audience to be surprised by "what comes next." Foster (dance, Univ. of California, Riverside) once worked with Bull and his wife, Cynthia Novack, and thus brings considerable insight to this study of the processes and procedures of the singular artist's creations. In addition to analyzing Bull's work, she also discusses the work of several of his contemporaries (e.g., Trisha Brown, Bill T. Jones, and Ishmael Houston-Jones). The title refers to a work by Bull in which the dancers recite as they perform; his dances, although improvised, proceeded from written instructions to the dancers, which detailed how each piece was to unfold. I was hoping for more but I had all of the Monograms in this collection form other sources. If you do not have an extensive collection of Monogram references it is a good buy BUT as a hand engraver and a Stationery Engraver I have see everything in this before many times. A little bummed out.

Beautiful monograms, but I wish they had individual letters too instead of combined monograms. Sometimes you just want the one letter, folks. Maybe in v.2??

I think this is a fabulous reference book for monograms from A-Z. Mostly Victorian 2, 3 and 4 letter monograms of various styles from that era.I bought this book a year ago and I still have it in my tote bag today.

Fantastic collection of monograms & ciphers. You can't ask for a greater number collected here (11,000). The issue is, they look photocopied rather than scanned at high resolution.

The book presents the story of how Americans financial future shifted from mostly employers to the individual and how government action trailed and, in some cases, badly lagged the fast moving financial landscape of the 70's.The book reads well with each chapter a coming across as a somewhat tale of the many tales that occurred in tandem during the financial revolution that swept the country from the late 60's through the early 80's. It starts with The Drop, the great credit card drop in a quite California town where credit cards became a household item overnight and the kinks were worked out of a product that has become ubiquitous. Incredible changes occurred any man far flung enterprises which all had finance as a common denominator. Stories like the the emergence of Charles Schwab and Merrill Lynch and the rise of mutual funds. The sweeping away of Regulation Q and the inability for banks to pay going rates of interest by way of the competitive money market funds that came about and the push by individuals to get into them.The book offers an accurate representation of the events that took place that gave individuals much more control over their financial future. The book is upbeat and treats all these events as being good for the average American. I cannot disagree that having more choices is a bad thing, but if the choices presented to people is accompanied by some sort of education about what the choices really mean, then what value are they? That was a problem then and continues to be a problem now. The financial industry has grown tremendously as a result of all these changes outlined in the book. In so doing, they have create a huge array of financial products that supposedly allow the individual to live well in their retirement years, but will they? Half of most folks retirement funds were wiped out in 2008. Am I missing something?Nevertheless, the story that is told here is a good read from a historical as well as a storytelling perspective. It may be difficult for many of you younger people to grasp how primitive many of our business practices were back only 40 years ago.When I started working at Visa in 1973, those thin tissue copies of sales receipts were manually taken to the merchant's bank each evening and placed in a "drop-box". Then they were "processed" by the merchant's bank which really meant they were physically sorted into piles to be copied and sent by mail to each of the banks around the country that had issued the card to the customer.
